I'm so fucking proud right now.
My little cousin, he’s 7 or 8, i believe. I can’t remember right now. Anyway, he’s autistic. But when he was diagnosed, they told my cousin (his mother) that he wouldn’t be able to talk or really do anything because his autism was so severe. These past two years have just been so full of accomplishments for him. Last year he started talking. Nothing in particular but just talking instead of screaming. He’ll make noise and just talk to himself and count, etc. Towards the middle/end of last year, he started saying “mommy”. Something he NEVER said….at all. My cousin was so happy as was the rest of our family. I can just imagine how heartwarming it was for her to finally hear him call her mommy. This year, he started writing. Obviously, tracing letters, shapes, etc. He finally wrote his own name by himself..by tracing the letters. A month or so after that, he was able to write his own name without tracing. So fucking proud of that kid.
I get a text today from my cousin about one of his biggest accomplishments yet and when I check what it was, HE FUCKING MADE STUDENT OF THE MONTH! This little kid, who doctors said would most likely never speak or do anything for himself is fucking STUDENT OF THE FUCKING MONTH! My eyes got so fucking watery. I’m so fucking happy. I loooooooove him!!! check it out,
I want to make an impact like that on a child’s life. I can’t wait to become a teacher. <33
